Meet Dr. Damian D. Blum, D.M.D., P.A.
Dr. Damian D. Blum’s reputation for performing the highest quality fine dentistry is only rivaled by his kindness and penchant to turn a smile. He brings compassion and excellence to the art of dentistry, excelling in cosmetic dentistry and smile design.
When asked what he likes most about his work, he says he loves it when he’s made a true difference in someone’s life — one of the most amazing feelings in the world. That moment after treatment when a patient looks in the mirror and smiles — that’s the reason Dr. Blum loves coming to work every day!
Education and Continuing Education
Dr. Blum has trained and studied under many of the top clinicians in the world for the past 28 years. He began his journey toward becoming a dentist after graduating from UMBC in 1979, with a BA in Biology and Psychology. He then studied at Boston University’s School of Dental Medicine, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree in 1983, and in the same year opened the doors of his first private practice in Baltimore. Desiring to open a dental practice in his home community, he finally opened the doors of a new practice in 1987, this practice in Ellicott City.
Passionate about education and sharing knowledge, Dr. Blum believes that if someone has the opportunity to learn something, they should pay it forward. While the Maryland state board requires dentists to have 30 credits of continuing education courses over each two year period, Dr. Blum attends trainings and conferences year-round and continues to average well over 100 continuing education credits each year alone. He is also a past Clinical Instructor University of Maryland Dental School, and has recently undergone training and certification at the Institute for Advanced Laser Dentistry Certification.

Giving back to the community
Dr. Blum always makes the space and time to volunteer and give to people and organizations in need. One of the best parts of a community is the act of building it. Dr. Blum participates in the Give Back a Smile Program by donating restorative and cosmetic dentistry services to survivors of domestic violence. In addition, Dr. Blum has been donating dental services through the Maryland Foundation of Dentistry for the Handicapped for many years, taking on pro bono patients who are experiencing poverty, have slipped through the cracks of Medicaid/Medicare programs, and have disabilities that render them unable to care for themselves without help.
When not doing dentistry, Dr. Blum can often be found dabbling in gourmet cooking, gardening, geeking out to good music, and getting involved in just causes. His two children, Ashley and Rye, are his pride and joy.
